Earlier the actress-social activist Nafisa Ali was the chairperson of Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI), which give full entertainment for children by film & tv. She had resigned the post to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow from Samajwadi Party’s ticket.
As we all know now Nandita Das, actor-director had recently become chairperson, her tenure is for three years. When she was offered the post of chairperson, she was confused between the greatly desired position& starting the work on her movie, but then she realized that it is a great opportunity to make quality children movies because even if India had earned name by giving distinction work by producing largest number of films still Indian film industry, especially CFSI is straggling behind, if compared with other countries work, so they need to shift their gear& proceed ahead to set their target to reach the standards set up by Iran’s& China’s film industry.
Nandita said her agenda is to focus on children issues& to churn out quality films because quality matters not the quantity. She said CFSI must have produced many films but in their library they have almost 300 films out of which only 150-200 are produced by CFSI.
There is lack of quality entertainment for children& also a problem adding up to this is that kids are more attracted to reality shows& tv serials to attract their attention towards quality movies is not that easy, so CFSI need to promote& encourage renowned filmmakers& films also. So if popularity need to be increased then the change need to be done, so CFSI need to make sure that the films reach all strata of people, for this there need to built tie-ups with libraries, schools, colleges& filmclubs.
