Approach to Finance Ministry for abolishing the service tax on power transmission

According to 6th pay commission service tax is charged 12.36 % from companies of power transmission. It is demanded by the states to abolition of this service tax on power transmission. [smartads]

H S Brahma, power secretary of persmin (Power ministry) said that we have taken this issue of service tax abolition to the ministry of Finance but it didn’t give any result. He said abolition of service tax would be advantageous to end consumers.

A meeting of power secretary was held yesterday which includes five states. They asked to Power Minister, S.K. Shinde  about approaching service tax abolition to the FinMin (Finance Ministry).
