Chennai Sangamam 2010 is going to be held from January 10th – January 16th 2010. This is an utmost platform for variety of entertainment for folk arts of urban Chennai. Around 2000 performers will give their performance, & that would be more than 4000 performances, which will entertain the audience, & this is going to be biggest & longest event. Chennai Sangamam is jointly organized by Tamil Nadu Govt., Dept. Of  Tourism and Culture & Tamil Maiyam.

The CM of Tamil Nadu, Karunanidhi, appreciated the program organizers for their work to bring in such kind of an event in front of world to witness the extensively forgotten renowned folk-art.

Even the organizers also told that this program is intended to bring together displaced Tamil people rejoined to their roots.

“PIRAPOKKUM” would be the biggest performance of this event, it means that birth is similar for everyone & finish the war & build up harmonious society full of religious attitude. “PIRAPOKKUM” will take place on the platform besides model of great thanzavur temple with relaxing recitation from THERUKKUTHU artists. THERUKKUTHU would be choreographed by renowned Prasannaswamy with more telling effect.

This event also contains food festival, rural games as other attractions & documentary film festival too.

Overall, this event is complete package of holiday activity for Chennai origin people & they can enjoy their folklore.
