This year, people will play Holi with edible handmade colors made by women prisoners of the Tihar Jail. These colors are ready to be sold in Delhi. In these colors herbal raw materials like flowers are used to make gulal. These colors are made by a group of 20 female inmates at Tihar Jail (no. 6). They made these colors with an NGO known as Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan.

DJJS’s spokeperson told that we are making these colors by using arrowroot powder and flower petals. These are purely skin friendly. [smartads]

Many times it has been seen that producers adulterate colors with diesel, engine oil, copper sulphate, and glass powder. According to medical experts, it can be cause to nausea, headache and breathlessness.
