The city of Mumbai was still under darkness when the first tweet at the micro blogging site twitter came around 1:10 am, with the message saying that the individual had felt tremors.

Mexico City shook by Earthquake of 6.4 magnitudes

South Mexico shook by major earthquake on Tuesday. The initial quake of 6.4-magnitude felt around 2.22 in morning local time. The earthquake was centered around 41 KM (25 miles) north east of Pinotepa Nacional in Oaxaca, Mexico. Quake was centered around 10 KM (6.2 miles) deep, referring it a low earthquake, tells Mexico’s Seismological Service.

Powerful earthquake struck US & Canada, 5.5-magnitude

Canada and United States felt a powerful quake near Ontario-Quebec borderline area today & was sensed across areas of the US, seismologists said.

Earthquake of magnitude 5.5 struck at 1.41 day local time (17:41 GMT) and it was centered around forty nine KM (31 miles) north Cumberland, a city in east Ontario region.

Costa Rica earthquake centered in south-southwest of San Jose with 6.1 magnitude

An intense earthquake hit Costa Rica yesterday evening, as per seismologists. There were no quick news of loss of life and property. The 6.1-magnitude quake which came at 9:26pm local time (03:26 UTC Tuesday) was centralized about 74 kilometers (46 miles) south-southwest of San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica. It hit about 29.3KMS (18.2 miles) deep, making it a superficial earthquake, as per the U.S. Geological Survey.

Philippines earthquake hit southwest Cotobato with 6.0 magnitude

MANILA (DLN) – A high intensity quake shocked southern Philippines today, as per the seismologists. There was no quick information over the loss of life and property. The quake with the intensity of 6.0 magnitude at 6:16pm was centralized at about 44 km (28 miles) southwest of Cotobato in Philippines. It hit about 33KMS deep, as per the U.S. Geological Survey.

Himachal shook with Moderate intensity earthquake

Shimla, May 28 (IANS): An earthquake of 4.3 intensity on the Richter scale struck Himachal Pradesh on Friday, an official said here.

“An earthquake hit Himachal Pradesh at 12.55 p.m. The tremors were felt for a few seconds across the state. There is no report of any loss of life and damage to property,” meteorological office director Manmohan Singh told IANS.

Brazil (DLN): A powerful quake rattles underneath western Brazil on today morning, seismologists told, but no harm or damages were reported.

The 6.5-magnitude quake struck at 11.18 Brazil time in morning (16:18 hours GMT) was centered about 127 KM east-southeast of Cruzeiro do Sul, a city in the western Brazilian region of Acre. Earthquake struck about 580.5 KM bottom, making it a deep quake, as per reports by United States Geological Survey.

A mass cremation took place for those who died in the earthquake in Yushu County on Wednesday. Cremation ceremony was carried by Buddhist monks on Saturday near quake’s epicenter.

China Earthquake Toll reached to 1,144

The toll in the 7.1-magnitude earthquake in China’s Qinghai province has reached to 1,144, an official said.

At least 417 people remained missing as of 5 p.m. Friday, two-and-a-half days after the devastating earthquake shook the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu at 7.49 a.m. Wednesday, while 11,744 people were injured, Xia Xueping, spokesman with the emergency rescue headquarters was quoted as saying Friday evening by Xinhua.
