Bali cracks down on suspected gigolos

Bali Island (Indonesia), April 27 (DPA) Civilian security guards on Indonesia’s resort island of Bali have rounded up 28 suspected male prostitutes after the trailer of a documentary, made by an Indian-origin filmmaker, depicting the lives of local ‘gigolos’ sparked controversy, an official said Tuesday.

Indonesia Earthquake Centers near Obi Island, no Damage Reports

JAKARTA, INDONESIA — An earthquake with 6.1starting magnitude has devastated North Maluku area of Indonesia. There have been no quick information over loss and no tsunami threats have been made available. As per the U.S. Geological Survey tells that today’s earthquake was centered at a depth of about 33 miles near Obi Island. The region is some 1,500 in the eastern part of Jakarta.

6.4-magnitude earthquake strikes eastern Indonesia

Jakarta, April 24 (DPA) An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale struck islands in north-eastern Indonesia Saturday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries and damage, officials said.

The quake occurred at 4.41 p.m. (0741 GMT), the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMG) said. Its epicentre was 155 km south-east of Labuha city in North Maluku province or about 2,400 km north-east of Jakarta at a depth of 30 km.

22 dies after consuming spurious liquor in Indonesia

Jakarta, April 23 (IANS) At least 22 people have died and 300 fell sick after consuming spurious liquor in Indonesia’s Central Java province, Xinhua reported Friday.

The toll is likely to increase. Police said the victims bought the liquor from a resident in Salatiga April 16.
